Official Minutes of the NHSPT Meeting

Motto: Our envisionment is delusional.

Our Mission Statement: To promote international goodwill, provide entertainment to the masses; and encourage travel and tourism throughout the world.

After the inspirational music was played El called the meeting to order at 3:25.25, 3:25, 3:25.05, 3:24, 3:22 and 6:18. Barb said she would like to have that clock fixed and Bob said he would like to have hair.  We then played our theme song “Holiday Road”. For some reason we played the theme song twice. El’s opening remarks were that we will be taking a recess to have dinner as soon as everyone is ready. El hopes everyone is hungry cause he is. Bill seconded that. The motion was passed.

We will be taking a recess to have dinner as soon as everyone is ready.

El called for the reading of the minutes of the last meeting and Diana was gracious enough to read the minutes for scribe. She did a fabulous job. Beth moved that we accept the minutes and Diana seconded the motion. The minutes were accepted as read.

El called for the treasurers report. Treasurer Diana said we had $1,099.64 as of January 27, 2013. Expenditures during the last period include $16.00 for something that hasn’t been explained; and $34.83 to purchase ink for the scribe’s printer. Credits since the last meeting are payments of quarterly dues totaling $90.00. Dividends earned in the amount of $0.27 bringing our account balance as $1,139.08.Joyce moved that we accept the treasurers report as read and Barb seconded. All voted to accept the report.

Under old business it was decided that we would pay for our t-shirts out of the treasury. Ink was purchased for Scribes printer.

The new business includes the statement that Beth needs a new crock pot. There was an article about Waynesville in the Columbus Dispatch. This led to the discussion of taking mini trips between our biennial tours. We could take a mini trip to Waynesville, but not the second weekend of October. A weekend trip to Hocking Hills would be fun, etc. We will need an off season committee to make the plans. This would be the Off Season Mini Tour Committee or OSMNHSPTTC. We will need to pursue this idea further.

Bob and Beth related that they have a moose head that Jacob wants hung up in his room.

T-Shirt Committee report:  We discussed the purchase of the T-Shirts. We can get them in scarlet, royal, navy, purple, black or green. They will cost $29.20 including background printing, plus stitching. We’re thinking scarlet is the way to go, with black skyline. There would be a one-time set up fee of $20.00.

Routes and Maps Committee Report:  The route to Memphis will be I-71 to I-75 to I-40.

Accommodations Committee Report:  The research for accommodations came up with Econo Lodge downtown is $511.00 or $284 ea. with $10.00 per day extra for parking.
The Wingate east is 25 minutes out and have hot breakfast a kitchen etc.

The Fairfield Inn.  They have a continental breakfast. Microwave and refrigerator can be requested.

Sleep Inn north  King  $519.45 double $592.58 Address is 2885 Old Austin Peay.  It’s 30 minutes from downtown. They have a hot breakfast.

Barb also checked on the Quality Inn and the Holiday Inn.

Beth called The Wingate and talked to Tina. She found they don’t have enough rooms for us.

Beth called Sleep Inn and talked to Malcolm and made reservations. Actual rates are for AAA or seniors $485.31 for king and $558.39 for double. They have an indoor pool.

Meeting was called so we could eat at 5:32.58; 5:33; 5:29; 6:18 and 5:34. The meeting resumed at 6:31; 6:28; 6:30; 6:32 and 6:30and a half.

WTDOTWT Committee Report:  Joyce and Barb did not have presentation because we didn’t know the route we would be taking.

WTDWWT Committee Report:  We want to visit Graceland, visit the Gibson guitar factory. There is a historical Schwab dry goods store. There are several Civil War battlefields, but most are far outside the Memphis area.  Diana will do more research on the subject. Maybe we will get to see the Peabody ducks. Arcade restaurant is a good place to eat. We might take a day trip to Nashville and see the Parthenon , the Grand Ole Opry. There is a Pancake Pantry in Nashville. Beth wants to go to Arkansas just to say she has been there.

Transportation Committee Report:  The Avis 12 passenger van will cost $578.84 or $96.48 per person.

Snacks Committee Report:  We will have road snacks and bring out own bottle.

Our next meeting will be at Bob and Beth’s house on June 29th, 2013. They will serve a honkin chicken dinner cooked in their cast iron skillet.

Diana suggested we recess for dessert and Joyce seconded it. The motion was unanimously  passed at 7:53.4; 7:54; 7:55; 6:18; 7:50 and 7:51. The peach Trifle was very good. We reconvened at 8:07.10; 8:10; 8:07; 8:04 and 8:07.

We adjourned at 8:09.41; 8:09.32; 8:06.51; 8:18 and 8:12.

Addendum:  As per a phone conference on May 27th 2013 we decided that we would spend just 6 days in Memphis and go to Nashville to see the sights the last day of vacation. Arrangements were made with Sleep Inn in Nashville for Friday night.

Official Meeting Minutes of November 8, 2008
NICHOL-HEAD SANDHAM POWER(S) TOUR
Motto: Our Envisionment is Delusional
Our Mission Statement: To promote international goodwill, provide entertainment to the masses; and encourage travel and tourism throughout the world.

El Presidente  played the theme music  "There’s a meeting here tonight." Then the inspirational music " Holiday Road."  Every one clapped their hands and sang as best they could. Beth said it’s been a rough day. There was lots of chit chat going on before meeting got started. I’m not sure what it’s all about. There was something said about Jayme running off, but Barb found her down the road.

Someone said the meeting had not been called to order. El took care of that and called the meeting to order at 5:55, 5:50, 5:30 and 5:40 pm. Although the meeting got a late start, El pointed out that we had already eaten because of the birthday celebration, so we weren’t really too late. Temporary scribe Barb read the minutes of the last meeting. A motion was made by Diana and seconded by Beth to accept the meeting minutes. All approved.

Diana gave the treasurer’s report. We have $625.27 in the treasury at this time. Our account earned the high sum of $1.12 in dividends the previous quarter.  Diana had to explain what $41.98 was spent on. She said it was spent on the hand-held fans the members received at the last meeting.  Beth said the treasurers report was inspiring.

Old business:  We had talked about looking into getting a Dictaphone. Nothing else was said about that.

Ad Hoc committee:  The amount of $37.35 was spent on an easel that is so much nicer than the one we had been using. Beth demonstrated how to use it. It can be used for table top displays or set on the floor. It looks like it will last us a long time.

Barb’s research came next. She reported on Virginia and North Carolina. Specifically a place called Emerald Isle.  I couldn’t hear most of what she said as she talked a little low for the camera mike to pick up.

Side note about Chicago. If we go there Diana has a friend that can get 4 tickets to a White Sox ball game.

Diana reported on South Carolina and Georgia. She found all sorts of rental options, but it’s a long way to go, so she didn’t do a lot of research. Of course we could be entertained by Microsoft Mary on the long ride to either of those destinations.

Beth researched cruises. Her dad gave her insider info on cruises. Norwegian Cruise lines is a more flexible than other cruise lines in that they give you more freedom to do what you want to do, One 4-day cruise was $594.07 and another one was a 3-day cruise for $450. Of course we would have to travel to whatever port we would leave from. Beth said they treat you like royalty. There are tons of stuff to do on the ship. She said if we are bored we need to get a life. There would be a possibility that we would need passports. Beth mentioned having a footnote. Bill wanted to know why was it called a footnote. El said because it was on the big toe.

Beth had another option she wanted to bring up. El had to go get the other info from another room. Diana said if I hear the words Indian Mounds, forget it. Actually it had to do with taking an Am Trak train from Chicago to Denver. It would cost $161 per senior and $171 for adults, round trip. We would leave Chicago at 2pm Saturday and arrive in Denver at 7:15am Sunday. Diana wasn’t excited about the concept of so many hours on the train.  But Beth pointed out that we typically have the most fun during the drive to our vacation destination.  Also, El pointed that the seats are very comfortable for sleeping. We would be in Denver a week for whatever activities we choose.  We would have to rent a car and find appropriate lodging.

Someone motioned that we recess to have dessert and Barb seconded it. All were in favor to recess. It was 7:45, 7:48, 7:45 ½, 7:46 and 7:47.
We reconvened at 8:03 8:04, 8:01 and 8:04

We will take a vote to determine the most popular destination. The cruise, Nashville, Chicago, Emerald Isle or Denver. The vote came down to Denver, Emerald Isle and Nashville. Beth “volunteered” to do a follow up on Denver. Joyce and Diana will do Nashville and Barb will do Emerald Isle with Beth doing the PowerPoint for her.

There wasn’t much lively banter and repartee going on so Beth checked the calendar for our next date to meet.  After a short discussion it was attentively set for January 24th, 2009.  Since we are no longer in that meeting, we apparently adjourned at some point following that decision.

Motto: Our envisionment is delusional.

Our Mission Statement: To promote international goodwill, provide entertainment to the masses; and encourage travel and tourism throughout the world

El played the inspirational music “There’s a Meetin' Here Tonight” and the theme song “ Holiday Road”
El called the meeting to order at 4: 06 pm.
Opening remarks: It's a weird meeting because we don’t have to plan where to go for the first time ever.
The minutes were read from the TV prompt. Diana read the minutes. Diana also did the treasurers report. The treasurers report was as follows: Payment of quarterly dues was $90.00. Monthly dividends totaled $0.15. Balance from last meeting was $826.44. That brings the total balance to $916.59.
Old business: We had a great time on our mini-trip to Amish country. If we go back we might tour Berlin. We will take mini-tours on the off years. El bought a coffee urn for the group to use. It was a great idea.
Barb gave out folders of the places for us to consider staying while on vacation. She included mileage and drive time. It was a very thorough presentation..
El suggested we recess at 4:44pm for Cowboy stew and corn bread. After filling up on chow we reconvened at 6:10.15 pm.
Holden Beach, Virginia Ocean Front and House on the Beach are all too expensive. Big House on the Beach is already booked.
After perusing the different options we looked into Topsail Hampton Colony. Beth called the rental place. We have decided to go with this one. We will have to bring our own linens. We decided on July 18th through the 25th.
Beth motioned we break for Birthday cake and celebrate Bob's birthday. Diana seconded the motion. The cake was wonderful. We resumed our meeting at 7:55.1/2. Laurie and Diana will spend their vacation at Fort LaJune. We will meet at Diana's house. Diana and Joyce need to find a restaurant for our breakfast. Our committees are as follows:
WTDWWT – Laurie and Barb
WTDOTW – Joyce
T-Shirts – Bob and Beth
Routs and Maps – Bill and Barb
Road Snacks – Laurie
Accommodations – Barb and Bob
Meals – Diana and Joyce
Transportation – Bob and Beth
Our next meeting will be February 21st at Diana's
Beth moved that we adjourn at 8:45.1/2 and all accepted.

Official Minutes of the NHSPT Meeting of

Motto: Our invisionment is delusional.
Our Mission Statement: To promote international goodwill, provide entertainment to the masses; and encourage travel and tourism throughout the world.
Prior to the  meeting we had a delicious taco dinner that was skillfully prepared by board member, Diana. She also prepared a dip that was wonderful.
El seemed to be having some trouble getting the TV to recognize the computer.  After a bit of work he finally got things going.
El Presidente` played the theme music:  "There’s a Meetin’ Here Tonight." Then the inspirational music " Holiday Road."  Everyone clapped their hands and enjoyed the music.

El called the meeting to order at 4:18.02 and for the first time in history all members had the same time.  Beth said it was a bad omen.  As it turned out maybe it was.  Then, El told a story about cannibals.

We had the reading of the minutes of the November 8, 2008 meeting. The minutes were accepted and approved as read.

Board member, Diana gave the treasurers report. We have $712.90 in the Operating Fund. Our account earned quarterly dividends of $1.11. Joyce moved that we accept the report. Beth seconded the motion.  All gave a resounding aye.

Old Business:  There was $33.95 spent on a digital recorder so we can tape the meetings, therefore making it possible for scribe to better keep the minutes.  Beth thinks we are long winded.

New Business:  It was suggested that we form a committee to host a booth to tout our vacation planning skills at the AAA expo. We could have key chains and other promotional items made with our logo on them to hand out.  We would provide advice on how to plan a wonderful vacation such as what we have.  We need to determine if there is a fee and Beth will look into this.  El also mentioned some stuff he found at Nerds.com that would be very useful; a rotary hot dog grill, an authentic popcorn machine, a beer maker and a pizza maker.  All of which sound just peachy.

Beth suggested we should exercise before every meeting.  This was not well received.

Scribe and board member Joyce reported on Nashville, via board member Diana.  The report described lots of activities that the city has to offer including historical and civil war related tours, music, shopping and other fun stuff.  There are rental houses available in the area ranging in price from $1,575 to $3,000 for the week.  Any number of area hotels would also be an option for our lodging needs.

Next, member Barb gave her presentation on Emerald Isle, however the place she discussed at our previous meeting is no longer available.  But she found other options at Wilmington, NC, Cape Fear , Carolina Beach, Kure Beach and Wrightsville Beach.  If we go to one of those locations, activities could include: a riverboat ride, the Aquarium at Ft. Fisher where there’s a Civil war museum. Also, there are parks and recreation areas where we could just relax and chill out.  We could even take a Trolley ride. There are also plenty of places to shop.

At this point in the meeting, Don called, thereby requiring an unscheduled recess at 5:45pm.

Beth researched the train ride to Denver. It would be a fun and unique thing to do. Though I didn’t write down, I believe the cost is $161.00 for seniors and $171.00 for other adults. When we arrive in Denver there are plenty of things to do. Like going to a ghost town or to a National Park (I could get us in free.) There are 4 of them in close proximately to where we would be. There’s the Garden of the Gods Nature Center, that’s free. Well I could go on and on, but you get the message.  Hotel accommodations range from $69.22 to $126.93.  It was an impressive presentation. We had another recess at this point including some lively banter and repartee while we enjoyed a traditional Mexican dessert of flan, which was home made by El.

We reconvened at 8:08 p.m. and realized there are 3 options ahead of us and now we need to figure out what our destination will be.

After all was said and done, it appears we can’t afford a trip to Colorado or the Carolinas.  Therefore, we’re going to chuck all three ideas and consider other destinations.

In an unprecedented action, we decided to reconvene on February 7, 2009 and discuss other options, since we will all be together that day to celebrate Beth’s birthday.

Beth voted that we adjourn and Barb seconded. The vote carried.

Meeting reconvened at 3:11, 3:10, 3:13 and 3:11 on February 7, 2009.

*It should be  noted that between the time we adjourned on January 24th and reconvened on February 7th, El conducted several “mini meetings” by way of email.  These mini meetings consisted of links to websites of possible vacation homes at Lake Cumberland, Kentucky, and Chicago, Illinois.  All of us commented on the various homes and seemed most interested in the ones at Lake Cumberland.

We started our meeting at Bruno’s Restaurant where we began Beth’s birthday celebration.  Dinner was wonderful and our waitress was very nice.  We tried to get her to join NHSPT, because she fit right in with our group.

Before we began discussing other destinations, Diana had a proposal about what to do while there (wherever “there” may be). To ruin peoples vacation photos by doing funny things behind them as they get photographed.  Beth had a problem with that because of our motto “To entertain the masses and to promote good will.” Diana said we would be entertaining the masses and that we could promote good will on another day.

El liked the idea, but no one voted on it. Beth said something about getting a Karaoke machine, but El said he wasn’t doing Karaoke in his own living room.

There was a discussion about going to Niagara Falls, and having to get passport cards as opposed to passports.  These are half the cost and don’t take as long to get.

I don’t know which house they were talking about where all the bedrooms are all upstairs, but they said I shouldn’t worry about it because they would help me up to my room and I could just stay there and read.  Said I should bring plenty of books.

Beth doesn’t like gnocchi.

We finished our dinner and left to reconvene at the home of El and Beth.

Meeting reconvened again at 4:39, 4:40, and 4:38 pm.

El set the video display up. Beth had to deal with Jamie, so we got off to a slow start. Jamie needs psychiatric help.

Beth had a slide presentation that showed the area around Cumberland Lake. I didn’t know it was so huge.

From Lake Cumberland, we can take a day trip to Nashville or the Smokies. (El pointed out that if we got a really early start we could have breakfast at our favorite restaurant.  But since we’re talking 5 a.m., I seriously doubt that will happen.) Beth pointed out that she can’t sleep in the car, so she could do the driving while we slept.

There’s the Corvette Museum and Our Old Kentucky Home State Park, the Civil war Museum, Cave City, Hiestand Home Museum and there is the Atkinson-Griffin log House that served as a Confederate hospital adjacent to the home. There’s also the Mill Springs Battlefield. And a scenic train ride or a dinner train ride we can take.

There are plenty of places to eat including Ginny’s diner.

We figured that #54866 is not the best house to take cause it looks like there is a half wall between the rec room and a bed room. We figured if someone got mad they can go to bed either in that bed room or on the futon.

# 81569 looks like the best one. It’s in Burnside. I think El is going to call and try to book it. Well, El called and had to leave a message. There is an alternative. There’s Sam’s Place and Allen’s Place.  Sam’s Place has a place to put the Vienna Sausages on the wall.  We considered the various costs of all our options, including security deposits and cleaning fees.  And since I had so many numbers written down and no way of knowing what went with which, I’ll just jump to the end with the fact that our first choice was already booked, so we called our second choice, Allen’s Place, and asked them to hold it long enough to get us the contract for signature.

Meanwhile, we discussed Committees:

Routes and Maps – Diana
Transportation – El
T-Shirts – Diana and Joyce
WTDWWT – Barb and Bill
Road Snacks – Bill
Meals – Beth and Barb

Someone needs to check into The Riverboat tour, the Scenic railway and pontoon boat. Also check into info on Civil war sites.

We have tentatively scheduled our next meeting for April 17, 2009.

Meeting is adjourned at 6:28, 6:30, 6:29pm.

Official Minutes of the NHSPT Meeting

Motto: Our envisionment is delusional.

Our Mission Statement: To promote international goodwill, provide entertainment to the masses; and encourage travel and tourism throughout the world.

We had a bodacious fried chicken dinner with potato salad, green beans and rolls prior to the start of our last meeting before the start of the 2013 Tour. After cleanup the meeting was started at 4:38, 4:38, 4:38 and 4:38 pm. El played the inspirational music and then he played our theme song ”Holiday Road”. El ‘s opening remarks were that there are only 4 weeks exactly until the start of vacation, and he hopes everyone has their card tables set up.

El called for the minutes to be read. The minutes were read by Diana as Scribe was stumbling over her words. Beth motioned that we accept the minutes as read. Barb seconded the motion and all agreed to the motion.

El then called for the treasurers report. Diana reported that at the previous meeting, we had a balance of $1,139.08. $264.10 was spent for Tour shirts, imprinting and embroidery. Payments were received for quarterly dues in the total amount of $90.00 bringing our account balance as $964.98 to date.

Next El asked if there was any old business. We had discussed some mini trips at our last meeting and Beth talked about maybe taking in a Chris Tomlin concert for one of the mini trips. Beth will look further into this.

El then ask if there was any new business.

Diana asked if we would be attending church while on tour.  El had looked into churches in the area and came up with two Christian Churches. New Hope Christian Church on Stage Rd seems to be close to the Hotel. They have one service at 10:30 AM.  All agreed this was the place we should go.

El said we didn’t get maximum effect with our LED sign on our last tour. We need to be more diligent in taking care of the sign.

Beth presented us with our T Shirts. They are very nice. The one that I requested after the fact was way too big. Sorry about that.

There was no new information on the routes and maps. No one needed trip tics.

During the weeks prior to this meeting, Barb talked to Harry at Sleep Inn. He is Malcolm’s boss. She gave praise about Malcolm. There will not be any price changes because of the change we made to our reservations. We paid Bob $38.00 for the Nashville Hotel cost, as he prepaid this expense for the group.

The cost of the van rental turned out to be more because of a change in date. So it is $642.40 or $107.06. El will pick the van up on July 26th and return it on August 4th at noon.

Being El is a thirsty proposition.

El questioned whether or not the rooms at Sleep Inn, Memphis included televisions with DVD hook up.  Beth called Malcolm and was informed us that they do.

Barb had several handouts that included things to do in Nashville.

Joyce moved that we recess for dessert after much discussion about the proper procedure for making a motion. Evidently I didn’t do it correctly. Anyway Diana seconded the motion and all were in favor. We recessed at 6:05pm.

After dessert Beth motioned we reconvene the meeting. Diana seconded the motion and the ayes carried the motion. El was not there to accept the motion. We reconvened anyway at 6:34.

We discussed what time we need to leave Dayton at the start of the Tour. It was decided that Bob, Beth, Barb and Bill would leave Columbus at 7:30 am. We will have breakfast at Bob Evans in Dayton and leave there at 11:00am.

After that there was lots of lively banter and repartee. The meeting was adjourned at 7:14pm.

NICHOL-HEAD SANDHAM POWER(S) TOUR 2007
 Motto: Our Envisionment is Delusional
Our Mission Statement: To promote international goodwill, provide entertainment to the masses; and encourage travel and tourism throughout the world.

The meeting was held at the home of member Barb Nichols. Since there wasn’t a way to play our theme music some members sang "There’s a meeting here tonight" It was way more fun that way. The meeting was called to order at 8:59:48, 8:58, 9:00:05 by El Presidente.
It was reported by El Presidente the Edmund Fitzgerald sank on this date 33 years ago.
Scribe read the minutes of the last meeting, but her mouth was full and couldn’t be understood. This seemed to go over quite well and the minutes were accepted as read.
The treasurer reported that we have approximately $500.00 in the treasury.
Old business: We can’t think of a way to be heard from the back of the van during our trip. So we will just have to accept it.
New business: Member Barb suggested we make a video about our meetings. Diana was in agreement with Barb. El Presidente said some of the videos didn’t survive. El is taking the suggestion under advisement.
Barb researched going to Lake Cumberland. She said unless you have a boat there isn’t much to see. She checked prices of houses and they are around $1150.00 There are bowling alleys, movie theaters, Kroger stores, etc. We could take side trips to Stephen Foster musical museum; Fort Knox Patton museum. El decided if you have booze and chips what else do you need? We could rent a boat for $90.00 per 2 hours. Barb gave a very interesting report.
El did a report on Lake Erie, Put-in-bay, and Kelly’s Island. He checked out houses and found the Port Clinton House, which is a 5-bedroom on the beach for $1800.00 per week. Huron House is a 6-bedroom house on the water front for $1800.00 per week. Oak harbor is a 5-bedroom house for $2150.00. There is a Cat Ferry within walking distance or a short drive to whatever we want to do. We could stay in a hotel if we so desire.
El also checked out the stuff in the Weird Ohio book, then he yielded the floor to who ever wants it.
Beth was to look into Virginia Beach. It is a 13-hour drive to the beach area. All the houses have the usual accommodations. Prices range from $1700.00 to $2800.00. It would be $66.00 per night per person for the most expensive.
Bill had to work and had to leave the meeting. He left at 9:45:05, 9:46, 9:47 and 9:43.
Beth made a motion that we adjourn for dessert. All agreed to the motion. We also did El’s birthday while on break. He seemed happy with what we gave him. We resumed the meeting at 10:10, 10:08, 10:12 and 10:10:07pm.
We went on to the general discussion and lively repartee. Member Diana said that all the ideas were good. At Lake Erie there is all kinds of things to do. There are antique malls, stores, etc. Beth suggested we narrow it down to two choices. Either Lake Cumberland or Lake Erie perhaps.
The responsibilities were divided. El Presidente and Diana will research Lake Erie and Weird Ohio. Barb and Beth will research Lake Cumberland. Meeting broke up at 11:03:07, 11:05, 11:02:28 and 11:01:26.
The next meeting will be in January. Tentatively on the 13th at 2pm. The meeting will be at the home of member Diana Powers.

$916.59 -$544.88 + $90.14 bringing our account balance as $461.85 to date. Beth voted that we accept the treasurers report as read and Joyce seconded.

Diana suggested having Wallyworld shirts to wear on our vacation. We need to get hats, pens, tote bags with Wallyworld logo on them.
Beth suggested we get pens with our logo on them to pass out to the masses and get generic NHSPT t-shirts. Beth also suggested a promotion committee with Diana as chair person.
Diana will work on pens, tote bags, note pads, etc.
We need to get recipe ideas from all members try to avoid multiple tomato nights. Everyone should send Diana emails for dinner suggestions. We need to find out what kitchen utensils are there. El will continue to do our breakfasts. I, for one, am delighted with that.
We have decided to have donuts, bagels or English muffins and coffee at Diana’s house before setting out for Rio Grand for lunch.
El talked about the accommodations. Each person needs to have $271.41 by March 15th, 2015 and $272.15 by May 1st 2015.

The house has 1 king, 2 queen, 2 single, 1 double and 1 Futon, beds. We have to bring our own linens. Bob and Beth will get our official Vacation T-Shirts. We will be getting sand colored Henley shirts. Each person needs to pay $25.00 for their shirt. The rest will come out of our fund.
We will be renting a 12 passenger van for $1174.00.
There is a lot to do in Wilmington , North Carolina. Including an animal sanctuary. At 5:59.40 we broke for cake and ice cream. It was really good cake and ice cream. El opened his presents and cards.
We resumed the meeting at 6:38.38 pm. It was time for lively banter and repartee. It takes 10 hours and 15 minutes to get there unless we stop for breaks. Columbus, Croton, Gahanna delegation will come and pick up the Dayton delegation at 8 am. Croton delegation needs to leave Barbs house no later than 6:30 am
Our next meeting date is: May 23rd or 30th at Barbs house. It’s 132 days to vacation from this meeting date. The meeting ended at 8:00 pm

Official Minutes of the NHSPT Meeting

Motto: Our envisionment is delusional.

Our Mission Statement: To promote international goodwill, provide entertainment to the masses; and encourage travel and tourism throughout the world.

The inspirational music “Holiday Road” started for some reason before we were actually ready for it to start. Also it had the hiccups.  It was very irritating. El called the meeting to order and was promptly interrupted by Beth because she had to get the Wi-Fi security code for her tablet. The Meeting started at 2:21.5, 2:19.5, 2:20, and 2:20 pm. Then our theme song “ Holiday Road” was played.  El included excerpts of the “Vacation “movie as a video extra. El thanked everyone for allowing him to postpone the meeting from Saturday 26th to Sunday 27th .

El is talking very slowly so Beth can get the minutes ready to be read from her tablet, since I couldn’t print them ahead of time. Scribe read the minutes and they were accepted by the group.

Diana gave the treasurer’s report. She reported there were no expenditures. Deposits were the following: $90.00 dues and the bank gave us a whole $0.25 in dividends, bringing the total account balance to $1,099.64.

El requested that ink be purchased for Scribes printer out of the treasury.

Barb made a presentation on North Carolina Beaches. They talked about Topsail beach, Kure Beach and Carolina beach. There is a lot to do in Wilmington, SC. Topsail beach house would cost $3,341.00. Carolina Beach would be $2,486.00 and Kure Beach would be $2, 938.00. It was decided that Topsail Beach is too expensive.

At this point Diana moved that we adjourn for dinner, which was seconded and approved at 3:51.14, 3:50, 3:48, and 3:50. To was seconded and approved.

After we reconvened, Diana gave her presentation on Memphis, Tenn. It is 535 miles and just under 9 hours to Memphis. Graceland is one of the most popular places to visit. There is baseball to attend barbeque to eat. There is a Trolley system that can take us nearly anywhere we want to go. Lots of stuff downtown to see, except Graceland. There is a beautiful mansion in Memphis that costs $535.00 per night to rent. How many people would we have to take with us to afford that? To tour Graceland it will cost $35.00 per person  $31.00 for seniors. That would be for the whole package. There are also lots of museums there. Such as the Civil rights museum for $13.00. The underground for $7, Cotton for $10 Gibson Guitar for $10. There is Sun Studios where Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis recorded. We could go on a Riverboat cruise for $20. Or $17. There’s the botanical gardens for Beth and me. Some of us could rent a Segway for $59 Ride around if they so desired. The baseball team, Redbirds, will be home on the 30th, 31st Aug 1st, and 2nd. Would try to take in a game while there.

El made a presentation on Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. It’s 391 miles from Columbus, or 6 ½ hours to get there. El played Dixie Land music while showing a video of all there is to see there. It sure is beautiful country. Some of us could go spelunking . There is a rental house called The Old Wagon Lodge where we can stay in Stanley Virginia. It has 5 bedrooms and 3 baths. There really is a lot do there. They have the largest free standing star in the world. Now who wouldn’t want to see that?

Barb motioned that we break for dessert at 6:23.35, 6:24, 6:24, and 6:34. And we reconvened at 6:59.35, 6:56.10, 6:59.30 and 6:59.

The voting has begun and after a lot of discussion we decided on Memphis. (Note: an initial vote resulted in North Carolina as our destination.  However, there was an unexpected change of opinion which redirected our discussion resulting in a final decision for Memphis.)  Hotel rental will be about $360.00 for downtown and $322.00  North of town. Van rental will cost $459.28 or $77.00 per person. Fuel will be approx. .$406.00$ or 60.00 per person and Food Approx. $400.00 or $70.00 per person. $75.00 if we eat out.

Committees were assigned as follows:
Barb will research accommodations , Diana, Beth and Bill are in charge of  WTDWWT, Joyce and Barb in charge of WTDOTW, Beth and Bob will look into T Shirts, Beth will also be in charge of Routes and Maps, El is in charge of snacks and transportation. We might stop at Nashville and see the Grand Ole Opry.

Our vacation will start on July27th and end on August 3rd. Our next meeting will be at Barbs house on April 13th. My sinuses were killing me. El said we will go to the Tavern on Beal Street every night. Diana and I want to go to the police station and meet the people that are on the TV show “First 48” Also we need to visit Nashville either on the way or on the way back to at least see the Grand Ole Opry.

Scribe motioned we adjourn at 8:43.32, 8:44, 8:42, 8:42.27 and8:44 so we did.

NICHOL-HEAD SANDHAM POWER(S) TOUR 2005
Motto: Our Envisionment is Delusional
Our Mission Statement: To promote international goodwill, provide entertainment to the masses; and encourage travel and tourism throughout the world.
"There's a meeting here tonight" and "Holiday Road" The official music of the NHSPT was played and El Presidente called the meeting to order at 3:50, 3:51, 3:52 and 3:53.  El gave an explanation about the two votes appearing on the agenda. A preliminary vote will be taken, followed by group discussion with a final vote to decide the Tour destination.

Diana asked for a few minutes to explain the package she received from Don. He sent us a care package for our meeting, consisting of a compass, autograph book, mini decks of cards, slim jims, note pads, optic wonder, pencils, erasers, paper clips, fat free Necco Wafers, spam, life savers, 5 squares of toilet paper (for emergencies) lens cleaning tissues, matches and a penguin for Diana.
El called for the reading of the minutes and the treasurer was gracious enough to read them for the Scribe.
The treasurer then gave her report which, due to her inefficiencies, there was nothing to report.
We will be taking the tour photo of the NHSPT group at our next meeting. We can take props of our own and may be provided with props from the photo committee. We can make suggestions as to how the group gathers, but the final decision will be made by the photo committee. Photo will be taken by El. We will stick with our old LOGO.
There was no old business.
There was no new business.

Barb did the first presentation on the tour of Chicago. It was suggested we stay in town. Two Best Western Hotel prices were quoted. One was $405 with $22 for parking. The other was $414 with $15 for parking. That was for 3 days. Red Roof Inn was $414 for 3 days, but no parking fee. Then we would go to the Dells. It's 548 miles from Columbus. There is a plethora of things to do at the Dells including the House on the Rock. Altogether it would be $594 for 6 days lodging, $140 for fuel round trip. It would be a total of $467 per person for the van, gas and lodging.

El did a fine presentation on the Civil War Battlefield tour. Fredericksburg, Virginia would be the central location. We could do a self guided tour of battlefields, tour civil war homes, see other battlefields and visit museums. We could go shopping at antique malls and outlet malls. We could also check out the local wineries and other historic attractions. Transportation costs would include van rental from Hertz at $883, for 8 days. Not a pig van. He also presented information on changing lodging locations to visit the different sites. Total cost with one central lodging place, $287 per person; total cost to switch lodging location, $460 per person.  It was an impressive presentation.

We took a break at 4:59, 5:00, 5:01, 5:02 pm. We resumed the meeting at 5:03, 5:04, 5:05, 5:06 pm.

Diana did her presentation on Charleston, S.C. It's 672 miles and will take 11 hrs. 12 minutes. We will drive by Biltmore Estate. We discussed stopping for a tour, but decided it would take too much time from our trip. She showed three different beach houses we could rent. Opt. 1: Alison at Ease $1,150. $218.58 each. Opt 2: Rainbows end $208.42 each. Opt 3: Surfs Inn $226.91 each. Places to visit are Ft. Sumter $12/$11 fee, Ft. Moultres $3/$1 fee. The Battery, Historic district. We could do a Ghost Hunt $10., A boat trip. Total cost per person would be $291, for gas, van and lodging.

Beth did her presentation on the Colorado trip. We could stay at Colorado Springs, or at Days Inn at Boulder.
There were several options as to how we could tour. We could pick a central locations and tour each day, coming back to the hotel each night, or we could stay at deferent hotels and tour each place that way. We could visit Ft Collins, Estes Park, Loveland. We could also visit Focus on the Family Costs for each person would be between $491 and $469.
Diana made a motion that we vote, Bill seconded the motion, all approved.
The vote was almost unanimous for Charleston, thereby negating the need for a second vote.
We decided the start of our vacation would be August 6th'
We then selected the different committees and who would be head of them.
WTDWWT: Diana and Barb ACCOMMODATIONS: Joyce ROUTES AND MAPS: Bill and Beth WTDOTW: Barb

ROAD SNAX: El TRANSPORTATION: El BEACH HOUSE: Diana and Beth T-SHIRTS: Beth and Diana
Beth motioned that we break for dessert, everyone seconded the motion. It was 6:38, 6:39, 6:40, 6:41 pm.
Back in session at 7:05, 7:06, 7:07, 7:08 pm.
We took another vote to decide whether we would stay an additional day. 4 of 6 voted in favor of an extra day to go to the Biltmore. An extra day would cost another $110, for the van and $60 for lodging. The decision was made, because of cost, we wouldn't tour the Biltmore Estates.
Diana said to send her and Barb suggestions as to what to do while we are there. No one can complain if no suggestions are forthcoming.
Our next meeting will be March 12`" at 2:00 pm sharp.
Barb suggested we brown bag it for the meeting. Beth seconded and all approved. Beth moved that the meeting be done. It had disintegrated by this time anyway. Closed meeting officially at 8:00, 8:01, 8:02, 8:03

Official Meeting Minutes of the NHSPT

El played the inspirational song “There’s a Meetin’ Here Tonight.”  Then he played Our theme song “Holiday Road.”  Some sang along, but I think we were intimidated by the presence of our guest, James Powers.

El called the meeting to order at 6:13½ , 6:12, 6:13, 6:14

We played a game that El devised similar to Scattergories. Some of us cheated a lot. (Scribe) Diana won with a score of 37 points. Beth came in second with 34. It was a lot of fun.

El called for the reading of the minutes which scribe delivered. It seemed to be ok with everyone.
Diana gave the Treasurer’s report. The balance at July 22, 2011 meeting was $953.43. Expenditures during the last period include the following:
·        Group dinner at Sleder’s was $161.85
·        Stop payment fee (as a safe guard of the return of our Spider Lake House rental deposit) in the amount of $25.00
·        Web Hosting fee in the amount of $213.80
·        Supplies purchased for the movie premier, in the amount of $85.27
Credits since the last meeting include
·        Payment of quarterly dues totaling $450.00
·        Dividends earned in the amount of $1.53
Bringing our account balance to $919.04 to date.  It was an excellent report.

We moved on to new business: First of all we need to sue Toyota for using our theme song in their television ads. El will consult with an attorney. Diana also brought up that a video needs to be included with to our theme music. Beth then talked about doing a time share. Someone might research it. It was decided by some that Stevie Nicks can’t sing. El looked up a song by Stevie Nicks and found “Stand Back.”

Moving on to general discussion El said he can’t find his Indian Mound books. Beth said they are there someplace.

El has a tour suggestion that includes “The World’s Greatest Doughnut Tour.” It would take us all over the US. There would be lots of things to see along the way.

Beth brought lots of maps, tour books and travel brochures for places all over the US. We perused the different brochures. We talked about going to Chicago, Virginia, Memphis, Nashville and probably some other places.
Diana moved that we recess for dessert and Beth seconded it. All were in favor of doing so. We recessed at 8:58.20, 8:58, 8:58.25, and 8:59. The Ho Ho Cake Beth made for dessert was delicious.

We resumed the meeting at 9:30, 9:31, 9:31.55 and 9:31.5.

We talked more about possible destinations and decided that Diana will research the trip to Memphis; Bob will look into going to Virginia; Barb will Research Chicago.

We could find good Chinese restaurants in New Jersey. I wrote down Chambersburg, Pa. And also Owensboro, Ky. But nothing more was said about them. Bob is going to research Kokomo, Indiana.

Our next meeting will be in November, perhaps the 16th or 17th.  The specifics will be decided later.

Barb motioned that we adjourn, so we adjourned at 10:16.50, 10:16, 10:16.56, 10:16.10 and 10:16.

Text Box: Saturday, August 14th, 2010
Official Minutes of the NHSPT Meeting of
Motto: Our envisionment is delusional.

Our Mission Statement: To promote international goodwill, provide entertainment to the masses; and encourage travel and tourism throughout the world.

We started off the afternoon with a wonderful fish fry with  French  fries, cole slaw, and fruit salad. It was all very tasty. It rained as usual so the cooks had to fix the fish and fries in the garage.

The music having been forgotten the meeting began with less inspiration than usual. We played a neat little game in which El gave clues to snippets of video of our last vacation. Diana won the game with 135 points.  Beth came in second with 100 points. We won’t discuss the poor runner up points. At this point we took time out to fix and eat more fish.

Meeting resumed at 6:28.

Treasurer reported that at last report we had $641.99. Expenditures were $178.84 for the group dinner during the last tour, plus web hosting fees of $113.80. Deposits were $405.00 in dues paid and dividends earned were $2.38, giving us a total of $756.73 in the treasury.   There was some projecting and speculating as to the total amount of funds we may potentially have by the time our next tour begins.  Depending on whether we buy anything between now and then, we could have a whole bunch more money.

Under old business Diana said the trip to Static was fun, and that we should endeavor to make a similar trip on all future tours. We talked about having to make a beer run or two if we vacation in a dry county again. I don’t know what that has to do with old business.

Under new business Beth suggested that future tours require accommodations that provide internet access.

The meeting has degraded to insane blathering.  Example:  Diana needs a new road atlas and Beth wants us to have a GPS.

Under general discussion Bob suggests a Diners, Drive-ins and Dives tour. We talked about the West Gate Smoky Mountain Resort. They have a 5 bedroom suite, that sounds nice. Beth is calling to check rates for this, but is having a lot of problems getting through to anyone that knows anything. Someone will have to call them on Monday. Beth is now checking VRBO for more options and has found several rental homes in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area that sound promising.

For the next meeting, Beth is going to update her previous research for a trip to Colorado. Barb will research a trip to Michigan.

Diana motioned that we recess for dessert, Beth seconded.  Meeting recessed at 8:15. Someone (El) said it was 20 til 3.  The cake was scrumptious.

Meeting resumed at 9:06.  El suggested a storm chasing trip. He said we could do this on the way to Colorado.

We talked about scuba diving hamsters to generate power for a riverboat that we want to buy.  I’m sure this is a great idea for a new business venture.

We plan to have our next meeting  on November 13th depending on the day El can get off.

Diana moved to adjourn the Meeting, Bill seconded.  All were in favor and meeting was adjourned at 9:45.

NICHOL-HEAD SANDHAM POWER(S) TOUR
Motto: Our envisionment is delusional
Our Mission Statement: To promote international goodwill, provide entertainment to the masses; and encourage travel and tourism throughout the world.
El played " There’s a Meeting Here Tonight" to the applause of the members of NHSTP.
The meeting was called to order at 4:40, 4:38, 4:39 and 10:15 pm.
The theme song " Holiday Road" was played.
El had a game for us to play. We each had to pick 2 places from an array of choices and write them on a piece of paper and keep it with us for who knows how long. I guess we will find out eventually.
Scribe read the minutes from the last meeting. El moved that we accept the minutes as read. All accepted.
The mothers were declined admission from Law School, so Bill will have to apply.
There was no old business.
New Business: It was decided we would all wear our Tee Shirts from the last tour when we set out for this year’s tour.
Someone suggested we have "Who Wouldn’t Want To Be Us" put on a Magnetic sign for the back of the van.
Beth found chairs for the beach for $5.00, but they are green, not El’s favorite color.
Treasurer’s Report: At the last meeting we had $683.87 and we earned $1.27. There was $90.00 paid in dues and $108.29 spent. That leaves a total of $666.71 in the treasury. Beth moved we accept the treasurer’s report. The treasurer’s report was accepted.
T-Shirt Committee: Beth brought out the new T-Shirts. The good news was the embroidery for one of the shirts was free. The bad news was there was a tiny hole in that shirt. We will decide when to wear them when we get there. They are really nice shirts.
Transportation Committee: Diana rented a van from Budget. She has a coupon. The cost is $433.10. We need to find out what the insurance will be on the van. I think she said it will be a Ford Free Star or similar.
Accommodations Committee: El said the final rent has been paid. The code to the house is 0830. He said the homeowner is a nice lady. She has asked if we would please water flowers every other day. She said trash day is Monday morning and the cans cannot go to the curb the night before because of critters. Also, there is no phone at the house. There is no blender either, which would have been tragic except that Barb quickly offered to bring hers. Bob and Beth will bring their waffle maker.
WTDOTW: Beth basically reiterated the stuff from her last report. We discussed the high cost of gas and wondered if that would effect our plans. But ultimately decided it doesn’t matter about gas prices, we will go ahead with all the stops planned by the committee. Since there will be multiple stops along the way, we decided we won’t have to pack a big cooler. We are on our own for road snacks.
The Transportation Committee will pick up the van at 8 am, pick up the remaining members of the Dayton Delegation, then drive to Bob and Beth’s. Everyone will load up there and go to Bob Evans for breakfast.
Routes and Maps Committee: Barb will get Diana a Trip Tik because Diana is embarrassed to get one at her AAA.
WTDWWT Committee: For some reason El is singing right now. We are to E-mail stuff we want to do to Diana, so she can compile a list. The Safari, Arboretum garden, winery and spa were all mentioned. Beth and I will take the Ferry and the rest will go by sail boat to Kelley Island.
Church Committee: I found a Christian Church at Genoa which is 20 miles away from the house. I reported that I tried to contact the church and there was no answer. They didn’t seem to even have an answering machine. Anyway they want me to do further research and E-Mail any info I find.
We decided that we will go to the grocery on the way to the beach house, as it seems to be on the way.
We took a break at 6:22, 6:23 6:19 and 10:58pm. We resumed the meeting at 7:03, 7:00 7:02 and 11:38pm.
We talked about the evening meals we will have during the week. They include tacos; hamburgers (w/corn on the cob, salad, baked beans); chicken breasts Monterey (w/green beans and rice); hot dogs (buns and chips); steaks (baked potatoes, corn on the cob, garlic bread, salad and shrooms). And of course, Belgian waffles for breakfast, at least one morning.
There was lots of lively banter and repartee. We should take movies, such as Jet Pilot, Terror in a Tiny Town. Plan Nine from Outer Space. Also take dominos and The Game of Life.
The meeting was adjourned at some point. I really don’t know when.

Official Minutes of the NHSPT Meeting of
Motto: Our envisionment is delusional
Our Mission Statement: To promote international goodwill, provide entertainment to the masses; and encourage travel and tourism throughout the world.
El Presidente played the theme music "There’s a meeting here tonight." Then the inspirational music " Holiday Road." Every one clapped their hands and sang as best they could.
The 4th meeting of our 2007 tour was called to order at 4:36, 4:37, 4:34. The blinds were closed for privacy of our secret meeting.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and accepted.
Old Business: Diana called Nutella, Ray-o-Vac, and the Colgate Companies in an effort to secure sponsorship to finance our tours and the purchase of the Space Shuttle Bus. She had presentations of the different products and preliminary ad design. Everyone seemed impressed with the presentation and the gift bags from our potential sponsors. It was then suggested by board member, Beth, that one of us go to law school to handle the legal aspects of this endeavor. Either Bill or the Mom’s will go.
New business: There was no new business to discuss.
Treasurer’s Report: The treasurer reported that we have $683.87 in the corporate account. There were no expenditures this quarter. Board member, Beth, suggested that we consider the possibility of making a donation to a charitable organization on behalf of NHSPT. We all liked the idea but El said we should table this topic until after this year’s tour.
T-shirt Committee: Beth reminded us that at our last meeting we discussed the t-shirts we’ve had on past tours and decided we would like something different this time. We had talked about golf shirts and Beth looked into the possibility of getting them. She found suitable shirts online for a reasonable price.
She recommended a Jerzees brand golf shirt in California Blue. The design will be an embroidered outline of the state of Ohio, with "NHSPT 2007" in the middle, and our names directly below the outline. Everyone loved the design and it was accepted for this year’s tour.
Cost of the shirt, fees for embroidery and other expenses bring the total to approximately $25 each. The group then discussed having each member pay $20 for their shirt with the remaining expenses coming out of the Corporate account. All agreed. Sizes will be determined by each member and sent to Beth for ordering.
Transportation Committee: El and Diana – Diana reported that El researched renting a motor scooter at the Lake Erie location. He found that we can get one for a total of $225 for the week including delivery and cleaning fees. This expenditure will be handled by Joyce, El and Diana but was mentioned to the group because it provides us the ability to rent a mini van as opposed to a pig van.
Budget Rental was the best deal for the van at a total cost of $324.87 for the week, not including insurance. Beth requested a blue van with "stow and go." Diana will do her best to accommodate that request.
Accommodations Committee: El had a satellite map of the beach house to show all members the precise location. You could almost make it out. Nonetheless, we were duly impressed.
WTDOTW Committee: Beth gave all of us a booklet with stuff her committee researched for what we can do on the way. The first stop will be for breakfast at the local Bob Evans. Then it’s on to Heini’s Cheese Chalet in Millersburg; Coblentz Chocolates in Walnut Creek; Grandma’s Alpine Homestead and the World’s Largest Cuckoo Clock in Wilmot; Smucker’s in Orville and the Magical Alpaca Farms in Litchfield. All in all, our 2½ hour trip to Lake Erie will take 8 hours or more. But we’re sure to have lots of fun.
Included in the presentation was information Barb gathered on routes and maps. This committee has it all figured out and insisted on driving on the way there. Everyone was ok with that.
We had a break at 5:38, 5:37, 5:37, 5:34 and resumed at 5:46, 5:39, 5:42.
WTDWWT Committee: Diana made a booklet that has all the major points of interest listed with pertinent information regarding cost and hours of operation for each. Everyone was encouraged to read through their books over the next few weeks and utilize the handy check boxes provided to mark the things they would like to do.
Church Committee: Joyce’s research found that there is a Christian Church in Genoa at the corner of Main and Fifth St. Services are at 10 am. But before any final decision is made about attending, I have to check about the size of congregation.
Meals Committee: Although Beth is heading up this committee, we all had input about what we’d like to eat and how many times we will have dinner out. We discussed keeping the menu simple and there was an uprising by several board members who really want tacos one night for dinner.
Grocery Shopping: El googled Wal« Mart and found the nearest one is 17½ miles from the house. Kroger is almost as far. There is also a Great Scott, but it isn’t any closer. Each member was asked to submit a list of groceries they want and the Committee will create the complete list of items to buy after we arrive at our destination.
We adjourned for dessert at 6:27, 6:28, 6:24.
The meeting was resumed at 6:36, 6:37, 6:34.
Our lively repartee and banter isn’t very lively.
The balance of the fee for the house is due 30 days prior to vacation. Diana and Joyce were instructed to pay their share to El and he will coordinate the final payment to the house.
The date of next meeting has been set for Sunday, June 17, 2007 at the home of El and Beth. We will grill out.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:32.

El played our inspirational music "Holiday Road". Then the theme music, "There’s a meeting here tonight" was played.  Much clapping accompanied the music. The meeting was called to order at 2:48, 2:45, 2:47 and 7:03, after having a real nice lunch of barbeque sandwiches, Cole slaw, cheese, chips and dips provided by Bob, Beth and Diana.
Opening remarks by El: El didn’t have much in the way of opening remarks.  However, he did mention that certain members had discussions prior to the meeting regarding one of the presentations and he would therefore lift his self-imposed "El Won't Vote" rule.
The minutes of the last meeting were read by the Scribe and were accepted as read.
Treasurers report: Our treasurer, Diana Powers, reported that we have $593.87 in our Corporate account. $75.83 has been paid out for expenses incurred since the last tour. There were no expenses paid out in the last quarter.  It was also agreed that dues would be due by the beginning of the last month of each quarter (for example, the first quarter's dues are due by March 1st.  I think everyone is confused by that but with any luck, the Treasurer will let everyone know when the dues are due.
Old business: This is about the problem of not being able to hear from the back of the van. The people in the front of the van will just have to shout louder so the people in the back can hear and vice versa.
New business:  Board member, Beth, recognized and stated that we have approximately one-third of the money in the treasury that it takes to get the Space Shuttle Bus that we talked about during dinner.  She also suggested that we get a sponsor to help with the cost of the bus.  We could put their logo on the side of the shuttle bus, next to ours. Diana volunteered to call the Nutella people to be our sponsor. Maybe Giada could be persuaded to come and make stuff when we have our presentation (of the Space Shuttle Bus) to the public.
Time for the presentations: Committees drew straws to see who will make the first presentation. Beth and Barb made their presentation first. It was on Lake Cumberland, Ky.  It is a very nice place to relax. There is a resort park there. There are boat rentals, places to picnic. There is the Wolf Creek Dam. There are also Civil War battle sites, Mill Spring, Dutton Hall, Greensburg and Campbellsville. Cumberland Star River boat cruise and also Haney’s Appledale Farm. They have the Big South Fork Scenic Railway. Hundreds of libraries for genealogy research within 30 minutes of the house. There is a 1950’s vintage theater in Somerset.
Conley Bottom is a marina where we could rent a pontoon boat for $140 a day. We will also be close enough to Nashville and the Smokys that it would be possible to go there on a day trip.  Also My Old Kentucky Home is nearby as is Fort Knox, Cave City, shopping malls, the Corvette Museum and Hiestand House Museum for research. There are plenty of places to eat.
Monticello – on the lake is a 5 bedroom/4bath rental property.  The weekly cost is $2200 or $367 per person.  It takes less than 6 hours to get there.
Next was Bob and Diana's presentation on Lake Erie: There is a ranch style house by the lake- secluded and still close to a lot of attractions. It has 5 bedrooms. There are queen size beds in 4 rooms. I think El said the other room had bunk beds in it. Seating for 12 at the dining table. It is air conditioned, has cable and linens are provided. The cost is $2150 or $375 per person. It takes 2 1/2 hrs to get there. Things to do. Relax and read at the beach. There is an African Safari Wildlife Park. A jet express Ferry to Kellys Island and Put–in-bay. There are glacial grooves- the largest in the world. There’s Johnsons Island and Civil War Prison. There is lots of shopping and restaurants at Kellys Island and Put-in-Bay.
Both were great presentations. I especially enjoyed Newly the Gnat's participation.  Either place would be great to visit.
Beth suggested we take some time to contemplate our decision. We are taking a break at 4:06, 4:04, 4:07 and 8:21. The meeting resumed at 4:45, 4:52. 4:43 and 9:00.
There was a lot of lively banter and repartee from various presentation committee members to discuss the various highlights of the two different destinations.
We were divided straight down the middle as to where we should go, and there was no use in taking an official vote. Therefore, we decided to draw from a hat. No one objected.  Eventually, Lake Erie was the site drawn for this year's tour.
We then chose committees for the following projects:
What To Do While We're There – Diana and El
What To Do On The Way – Barb, Beth and Bill
Transportation – Diana and Joyce
Routes and Maps Barb, Beth And El
Accommodations – El
T shirts Beth and El
Food to eat while there – Barb and Beth
Grocery shopping – El and Beth
Church - Joyce (or Bible study at home if no suitable church).
Other stuff will be decided at a later time.
We must have Bob Evans for breakfast the first morning on the road. We also want to see if we can go to Packo's in Toledo on the way and have at least 1 meal out while there. Well, they are talking about beer, so I think the meeting is over, although it never was officially declared. Next meeting March 17,2007.

Text Box: NICHOL-HEAD SANDHAM POWER(S) TOUR Official Meeting Minutes of August 26, 2006
Motto: Our envisionment is delusional
Our Mission Statement: To promote international goodwill, provide entertainment to the masses; and encourage travel and tourism throughout the world.
It was our semi annual kick off fish fry meeting. Once again my camera wasn’t working, due to the fact that the batteries were dead.
The fish dinner was really good. All contributed side dishes to the dinner and each paid their share for the fish. After dinner it was time for the meeting.
El Presidente played our inspirational music " There’s a meeting here tonight" Diana, Beth and Bill are clapping to the beat of the music.
The meeting is called to order at 4:04.39, 4:04.49, 7:20, 4:05.
The theme song "Holiday Road" is played.
It was suggested we watch the movie " National Lampoon Vacation" instead of having the meeting. We had the meeting anyway.
El Presidente made a game like 20 questions for us to play. We had two teams. Beth, Diana and Joyce were the Fabulous Psspss and Barb, Bill and Laurie were the Mamas and Pappas. The Fabulus Psspss girls won. We each got a BOING plush monkey. We had a good time with the game.
Minutes of the last meeting: They were not read because Scribe forgot to bring them to the meeting. A vote was taken to dispense with the minutes. The vote passed. It’s a good thing too, cause I would have had to drive home to get them, taking up precious time.
Next we had the treasurers report. We have a total of $532.69 in our account. There was an expenditure of $14.00 dollars for a dry erase board and markers. Next dues were discussed. There was a question as to whether Barb and Bill had paid. She said she had paid for Bill and herself.
Old business
There is no old business.
New business
We discussed forming an Ad Hoc committee to look into some way to fix it so people can be heard from the back of the van while we are on the road. Such as head phones or something like that.
We also talked about filming while we are in restaurants and shops whenever possible. It’s been taken under advisement by El.
Barb has a card that plays "On the road again" every time we get into the van as we continue our trip.
General business
We always discuss visiting all the Indian mounds. We talked about touring Ohio. There is a lot to see right here in our own state. We also discussed going back to Edisto Island. We also talked about going to Virginia Beach. El suggested we go to Hershey and/or Philadelphia, Pa.
There was a lot of fun banter and lively discussion.
Who is going to research what?
I think this is how it went.
Diana is to research South Carolina; Beth is to research North Carolina and Virginia Beach. Barb and Bill will research Lake Cumberland. El will research Lake Erie.
Beth motioned that we recess for dessert at 5:42.01, 8:57, 5:43 and 5:42. Bill seconded the motion. All were in favor of it.
After a delicious dessert of chocolate birthday cake (it was Diana’s birthday) and a wonderful cheese cake made with Splenda for those of us who cant have sugar we resumed our meeting at 6:22, 6:23, 6:22 and 9:38 pm. As you may have noticed Diana’s clock is off.
El had another suggestion about where to tour. We could go to Owensboro, Ky. And get barbequed mutton. Beth didn't seem to go for that idea. I can’t imagine why.
When will our NHSPT commence? It will be in August sometime. Saturday 4 through the 11th is a possibility.
We talked about celebrating Canada's Civic Holiday in honor of Barb and bill on August 6th.
We discussed what going to Hell in a Hand Basket means. I don’t think we reached a conclusion.
Our next meeting will be on or around the 9th of November. It will perhaps be on Friday the 10th of November. Location to be determined later.
Diana motioned we adjourn. Beth seconded the motion. All agreed. We adjourned at 6:45. 6:45, 6:44 and 10pm.

Text Box: Official Meeting Minutes of June 4, 2005
NICHOL-HEAD SANDHAM POWER(S) TOUR 2005
 Motto: Our Envisionment is Delusional
Our Mission Statement: To promote international goodwill, provide entertainment to the masses; and encourage travel and tourism throughout the world.
Diana played our theme music "There's A Meetin' Here Tonight" and "Holiday Road."

El called the meeting to order at 4:57, 4:59, 5:00 and 5:01.    El said out of necessity of brevity he will be brief. This could be the last meeting we have before the start of our actual vacation. We all welcomed Laurie to the meeting and declared her as an honorary member of the NHSPT. We are all
glad to have her aboard.

Diana read the minutes of the last meeting for the Scribe. Scribe is so glad she is willing to do this. The minutes were approved.

We then went on to Old Business.

Treasurer reported that we have $509.59 in the Operating Account. Report is done.

After much discussion we have decided we will have Gary the Lobster and Newly the Gnat for our mascots. We could have a cartoon character as a lobster.  Laurie and Bill will look up the cartoon character on the Internet. All are in favor of Gary and Newly.

New Business: There is no new business.

Photo/Logo Report from Diana and Beth. The Logo had to change a little because Jessie got a different computer with different fonts, etc. All approved of the Logo for the front of the shirts. Logo for the back of the shirt met with everyone's approval also.  The cost of the caricature was $120. Screening set up is $18 for one side of the shirt and $28 for the other. The cost of each T-shirt is $7.56. That comes to $27.27pp. It was decided that $78.59 of that would come out of the operating fund, leaving $20pp.  Laurie suggested that the T-shirts should be baby blue. El suggested navy blue or maroon. The final choice was #1 Warrior maroon and #2 navy blue. It will take about 2 weeks to get it done. We decided we will wear logo shirts on one of the group's excursions.  Report is done.

Report from the Transportation committee- El has reserved a 12-passenger van, which is better than the 15 passenger because there is more room for the scooter and our luggage. The cost of the 15 passenger van was $883, and it's $849 for the 12 passenger van. I guess there is a coupon that will bring the cost down to $733 if they use their CitiBank card to rent the van. It's $21.98 per day for insurance which is $175.84 bringing the total to $908.84 or $151.47 pp. Report is done.

Routes and Maps committee Beth reported that Route 70 east to 77 south to 64 south seemed to be the best route to take. It seems to be the fastest at 13hours. Report is done.

Laurie motioned that we break for dessert. All approved of that motion. We broke for dessert at 5:58, 5:59, 6:00, 6:01.

We reassembled at 6:12, 6:13, 6:14 and 6:15.

Next came WTDOTW committee – Barb  She suggested Mad Lib games, sleeping, potty breaks and also eating along the way. Mad Lib book sells for $15. El thought it would be fun to go to Mt. Ary if we have the time. We will try to work this into the schedule. Report is done.

El will pick up the van at 5am on Saturday, August 6. El can pick up Barb on the way to get the van so they won't have to leave the car at the van rental place. If all goes well we should be able to leave at 6:30 am. Maybe we can get to Mt. Airy at the right time to eat there. We will plan to spend whatever amount of time we can afford to spend there.

Accommodations – Everyone    Beth will bring twin bed sheets, Barb will bring double bed sheets and
Bill will bring his own sheets. All will bring their own towels, etc.  There is 1queen, 1 queen sleeper, 2 twin and 1 double bed. El is sighing at all the controversy about bed sheets. Scribe will coordinate the purchase of supplies for the beach house. Report is done.

We discussed the meals.  Beth was having trouble counting on her fingers. We will be taking beef tips, stuffed shells, chicken and rice and burgers. We will probable get salad fixin's.

We have to choose which night we want to cook and clean.

Treasurer collected the beach house money from those people that had not  paid. Bill needs a receipt. Report is done.

Every one seems to have gone on a break at 6:50, 6:51, 6:52 and 6:53.

Road Snax  El did a survey of the people he works with about snax and made up a booklet featuring the most popular ones. It was passed around for every one to check their favorites from the list. The road snax will come out of the Operating Account.  Report is done.

WTDWWT  committee. Report hasn't changed since our last meeting. We will decide when we get there what to do each day.

General discussion

Scribe suggested that we pray there will not be any hurricanes during our vacation.

The meeting ended at 7:25, 7:26, 7:27 and 7:28pm.

Official Meeting Minutes of the NHSPT

Motto: Our envisionment is delusional.

Our Mission Statement: To promote international goodwill, provide entertainment to the masses; and encourage travel and tourism throughout the world.

We played the inspirational music “Holiday Road”. We love it so much.

The meeting was called to order at 3:49.01, 3:47.10, 3:49.32 and 3:49 followed by our theme song “There’s a meeting here tonight.”

El then gave the opening remarks. He express his hope that everyone is ready for some lively banter and repartee`.

Due to the fact that Scribe has no ink in the printer she couldn’t print out the minutes and therefore couldn’t read them to the group. So El read them from the computer.  This was followed by a motion from Diana to accept the minutes as read, with an amendment to include Foam Henge.  Someone seconded this motion and all were in favor.

El said that he still can’t find his Indian mound books. I believe Beth said they are there somewhere.

Diana gave the treasurers report next. The balance at July 22, 2011 was reported at $953.43.
Expenditures during the last period include the following:
Group dinner at Sleder’s in the amount of $161.85
Stop payment fee (as a safeguard for the return of our Spider Lake House
Rental deposit) in the amount of $25.00.
Web hosting fee in the amount of $213.80
Supplies purchased for the movie premier, in the amount of $85.27
Credit since the last meeting include the following:
Payment of quarterly dues in the total amount of $450.00
Dividends earned in the amount of $1.53
This brings our account balance as $919.04 to date.
Beth made a motion to accept the Treasurers report which was seconded by Scribe. All present agreed to the acceptance of the report.

In other business:
·         No formal action has been taken in our potential lawsuit against Toyota (for using our theme song in their advertisements).  El will continue to mull this over.
·         The suggestion was made that we pay the entire cost of our tour T-Shirt from our corporate account.  This will be considered at the appropriate time in the tour planning.
·         It was mentioned that we can’t buy summer clothes in the summer because they sell fall clothes then.
·         I will not be taking the scooter on this trip.

At this point (4:10 p.m.) El realized he forgot to turn on the camcorder to record the meeting events.

Presentations:
·         El is doing the presentation of Kokomo, Indiana. Surprisingly enough there is a lot to do in Kokomo. (There will be a fine if anyone breaks out in the Kokomo.) Plenty of hotel rooms to be had.  At one resort we can get a 5 bedroom 3 bath with kitchen for $1480.00 a week. It’s 203 miles to Kokomo, and 4 hours and 7 minutes. There is the automotive museum with over 100 classic cars. He said the Op Shop has lots of treasures like perfume bottles, vases, blown glass bowls etc. The Grissom Air museum featuring many military exhibits. Highland Park is a scenic 80 acre park. Lots of other things to see, as well as over 100 restaurants.
·         Diana reports that Memphis is a fine place to visit. She presented a concise report on things to be done there. It’ll take just under 9 hours, that’s about 535 miles (from Dayton) traveling through Cincinnati, Louisville, Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Jackson, Tennessee. Of course there’s Graceland. Beale Street is packed with good music and great food. We could visit the Memphis Rock & Soul Museum. There are Steamboat tours to take. Several Historic Places to tour. All kinds of parks to relax in, maybe have a picnic. And don’t forget the Peabody Ducks . We could tour Memphis on a Segway.  (Not sure how much I want to do this.) There are 2-hr and 3-hr tour. There are lots of places to shop, various malls and galleries.
·         Barb researched Chicago and discussed two places to stay. The Red roof inn was $695.65 with $16.40 tax. Holiday Inn North Shore in Skokie, Ill. Its $867.65 plus 9.5%tax.We could take the El train to get around town. We will take Bob’s little fridge with us and he can pack his clothes in it. We could visit the Navy Pier (where there’s lots of stuff to do), Shedds Aquarium, and yet another opportunity to rent a Segway.  There is also Willis tower, The Magnificent Mile, Adler Planetarium, a haunted Cruise, Museum of Natural History and the Museum of Science and Industry. Chicago tours are $30.00 and up.

It is time to take a break at 5:10, 5:18, 5:16, 5:16,  5:16 and 5:19.20 After the break we reconvened at 5:25.17, 5:21, 5:25.37,5:23 and 5:19

Diana moved that we alter the agenda and suspend the presentation to have cake. The meeting was suspended at 5:27.22, 5:26.40, 5:25.13, 5:21, and 5:26.We ate cake and resumed the meeting at 5:51.11, 5:49.02, 5:50.24, 5:21, and 5:50.

·         Beth is researching the beach.  Specifically Wrightsville, Beach, North Carolina with grasses, umbrellas, possible weddings. The Atlantic Ocean is the blue spot on the map. It takes 11 hours to get to Wilmington, North Carolina. The things we can include going to the beach. We can get a 5-bedroom house for $3500 a week at Sunset Lagoon and a 5-bedroom, 3-story house for $2400  (#394373) at Carolina beach.
·         El then gave a presentation of Virginia which included Natural Bridge, and Foam Henge which is South  of I64 and I81. Roanoke has live mums art.  Appomattox National Memorial is not far. There’s a boatload of places to eat, places to shop. At Massanutten Resort we can get a 5-bedroom, 1 kitchen, 3 baths,  2t? for $14.80 a week. At Foam Henge there is a haunted museum.

At this point the group began discussing various thoughts and ideas about our potential tour destinations.  Bill says that Chicago is low on his list of places to go. Beth and Barb don’t want to go to Kokomo.  After a bit more discussion, the group narrowed our possibilities down to: Virginia, Wrightsville Beach and Memphis.  If I have it right, further research will be done as follows:
Bob is checking Roanoke, VA; Beth is researching Wrightsville Beach, NC; Diana is researching Memphis, TN.

Diana plans to blow her entire budget on memorabilia from the Elvis Museum. She will also check about lodging, mileage and the cost of things.

El feels he’s not good at presentations. We don’t understand why.

The next meeting will be January 26, 2013 at  the house of Diana.

Diana motions we adjourn the meeting which got mixed responses but El declared the meeting adjourned at 7:22.25, 7:22.22, 7:22, 7:22 and 7:21.

El played inspirational music ‘There’s a meeting here tonight’ followed with our theme song ‘ Holiday Road’
El called the meeting to order at 5:21.27. We diverted from the natural order of things to let Diana open her birthday presents. We played a game based of the game show Wheel of Fortune. It was so much fun. I actually got the answers to some of the puzzles. Beth won the game. Diana came in second.
Beth read the minutes of our last meeting. El thanked Beth for reading the minutes.
Diana gave the treasurers report, which is: A balance at May 3, 2014 $736.28. Credits were payment of quarterly dues in the total amount of $90.00. Monthly dividends totaling $0.16. Bringing our account balance to 826.44 to date.
Our mini trip was fun. We went to a car show which was half-way between Waynesville and Lebanon. We visited several antique stores and ate at the Stone House tavern. We talked about visiting Amish country for food. We may do this on October 18th. We’ll see what happens.
New business:
The booklets on Indian Mounds surfaced . We had a very long discussion about Indian Mounds. El also talked about taking the route 66 tour.
We talked about 3rd week July for our semi annual vacation. Beth wants to go to the beach.
It seems everyone is sold on the idea of going to the beach. While we have pretty much made up our our minds about the beach we will still have our annual meetings. Beth Ann will research beach possibilities. One is McGee by the Sea. It’s an ocean front place for $3000.00 for the week. It’s 5 bedroom, 2 bath , 2 twin beds, 3 queen beds.
Diana made the motion we recess for dessert and Joyce seconded the motion. So we recessed at 8:15.20 pm.
The cake was really, really good.
We resumed the meeting at 8:52 pm.
Beth is still checking beach houses on the internet. Kure beach is closer than Edisto Island. It seems everyone is sold on the idea of going to the beach, we will still have our annual meeting.
Someone said you can get mix and match beer at Kroger.
Next meeting will be Saturday November 15th. We will meet at Bob and Beth’s house or Cracker Barrel at 2pm. We will have Cowboy stew. We will be planning the route, meals, wtdotw, wtdwwt. Someone will do routes and maps. Laurie will be on that committee, ha ha.
Beth suggested we adjourn at 9:49pm and Barb seconded the suggestion.

El played “There’s a meeting here tonight then the meeting was called to order at 5:00 pm.
El then played our theme sing “Holiday Road”.
El explained that we are breaking new ground. It’s the first time to meet for our mini trip.
We then welcomed former member Laurie to the meeting.
Next we had the treasurers report.

We didn’t have any reading of the minutes because of the fact that it was our first meeting. Therefore there also was no old business.
In new business we talked about the different places we would visit in just a day since it is to be a day trip only.
Barb compiled a list of places to visit in just a day. It was quite an impressive list of 91 different places.
We decided on Waynesville as our first place to visit and then searched for things to do and places to eat. There is a new (to us) restaurant called The Stone House Tavern. It looks like a good place to eat. There will be a car show on July 19th we could attend.
We had a hiatus so Beth could wash Bills shirt. He had spilled grease on it and she was afraid the stain would set in if it was left in.
Laurie is anxious for dessert but Diana is making her wait.
We looked into things to do at the Chuck Wagon Dinner Theater. Looks like it might be fun.
Beth suggested we go to the Kitchenaid place in Greenville. That’s where Annie Oakley grew up. This would be on another trip.
The tablet I’m writing on has crummy paper. It doesn’t want to accept the ink.
We discussed a trip to Orville where Smuckers farm is located and Millersburg for Amish food. There is a bakery there. If we get bakery goods from there we will have to pre-order in order to have it for breakfast. El is delegated to do the ordering.
We will have to work around the August fish fry.
Diana suggested we break for dessert. Beth seconded the motion and all approved. We broke for dessert at 6:56
After some delicious baked goods we reconvened at 7:41 pm.
It was decided that we will meet at the restaurant in Waynesville at 10 am. We will go to the car show first then go back to Waynesville to eat and shop. We also will do the Ghost tour.
Our fish fry date is August 23 at the home of Diana. El will bring the beer.
The rest of the meeting was a lot of lively banter and repartee.
